National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award

NATSAA COMPETITION

"Throughout its history the purpose of this [NATSAA] competition has been to select, through a series of elimination rounds on the district, regional, and national levels, singers whose artistry indicates that they are ready for a professional career and to encourage them toward that goal with a cash prize and the opportunity for performance engagements."

--Edward Baird, President of NATS, 1985-1987

The competition takes place during the Spring and Summer of even-numbered years, in conjunction with NATS National Conventions. Preliminary competitions begin with District auditions, the winners of which advance to Regional Auditions. Each regional winner participates at the Semi Final Auditions at the beginning of the National Convention.  The finalists are presented at a main-event, NATSAA Final Auditions, during the convention.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2008 NATSAA COMPETITION:

Applicant must be between the ages of 21-35 on December 1, 2005.

Applicant must be a NATS member in good standing, or have coached for one year with a current NATS member.
